Medical Malpractice Defense Verdict
In April 2002, Vincent A. Nagler successfully defended a surgeon accused of wrongfully causing the death of a 32 year old man, who died from a pulmonary embolism. The defendant surgeon performed an incision and drainage for a minor abscess. The plaintiff's family claimed prophylactic blood thinners should have been administered both before and after the surgery. By returning a verdict for the defendant doctor, the jury soundly rejected this claim. This case was reported in the New York Jury Verdict Reporter.
