Received a Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School in 1987 which included a summer studying law at prestigous Oxford University in Oxford, England. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Southampton College in 1981.

Mr. Valvo began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney under Robert M. Morgenthau in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. Mr. Valvo quickly established himself as an accomplished trial lawyer after having tried numerous felony cases to a verdict and handling hundreds of grand jury matters. These successes led him to be selected to prosecute cases in the specialized firearms trafficking unit, where he led complex, long-term investigations into the illegal firearms trade. While at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, Mr. Valvo was promoted to handle homicide cases and was a member of the hiring committee.

Mr. Valvo joined Callan,Koster,Brady and Brennan as an associate in 1994, where he was responsible for all matters involving civil litigation, including medical malpractice, personal injury, products liability and white-collar criminal defense in federal and state courts.

Mr. Valvo was recruited to be the Chief Assistant District Attorney at the Rockland County District Attorney's Office in 1996, a position that he held until re-joining the firm in 2008. As Chief Assistant District Attorney, Mr. Valvo was responsible for the management and supervision of a staff of 75 with an annual budget of $6.5 million. During his tenure at the Rockland County District Attorney Mr. Valvo prosecuted numerous high-profile cases, including homicide and violent crimes. In 1996, he was appointed as a Special Assistant United States Attorney and obtained a conviction after a trial of a nationally noted murder case in federal court. These accomplishments earned Mr. Valvo many awards, including being named the 2004 Prosecutor of the Year in Trial Advocacy by the District Attorney's Association of the State of New York.

Mr. Valvo has appeared regularly on Court TV as a legal analyst since 2003. Mr. Valvo's cases have been profiled in books and television, including A&E's "City Confidential" and the Oxygen Network series "Snapped." He was a faculty member for the National District Attorneys Association, American Prosecutors Research Institute and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. He has also appeared as a public speaker on important legal topics in law enforcement, civic and academic settings.

Mr. Valvo is admitted to practice before the Courts of the State of New York, State of New Jersey, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey.
